TruShield Insurance - Small Business Recovery Grants

Description

We know it’s been a challenging past year for many small businesses. That’s why our parent company, Northbridge Financial Corporation, has established a $2 million grant program to assist its small business customers who have been impacted by the pandemic.

This program, a portion of which is open to TruShield Insurance policyholders and which is administered nationally by the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, provides a one-time grant to help cover pandemic-related expenses incurred since March 15, 2020.

This grant payment is not a loan or line of credit and is not insurance. It does not need to be repaid and will not impact your future insurance coverage or premiums.

Who is eligible?

Your business is eligible for this program if it meets the following criteria:

  • Up to $3 million in annual revenue,
  • Fewer than 75 employees, and
  • Had property insured by TruShield Insurance on December 1, 2020.

Expenses eligible for reimbursement

The program provides reimbursement for costs the business has incurred related to COVID-19, up to a maximum amount of $500 per application. Four categories of expenses are eligible for reimbursement:

  • Purchase of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Renovation of space to adhere to re-opening guidelines
  • Website enhancements/development of e-commerce capabilities
  • Other expenses related to operating and sustaining your business during the pandemic

How to apply

Because funds are limited, we encourage you to submit your application as soon as possible. Applications will be processed in the order in which they’re received and once all funds have been distributed the grant program will be closed. To ensure quick processing of your application, please carefully review our program application guidelines and pre-application checklist before getting started.
